Sheryl Zaworski found WomenHeart and benefited from its support for women cardiac patients on her own 4-year journey to a proper cardiac diagnosis. She has volunteered as a WomenHeart Champion since she was diagnosed with coronary microvascular disease in 2019, serving primarily by speaking to large groups to educate women, as well as medical professionals, about the unique aspects of women’s cardiac symptoms and diagnoses. As a participant herself in medical research related to her cardiac condition, she also advocates for policies and legislation that support more participation of women in cardiac research. She is currently a Senior Vice President in the Global Ethics Office at U.S. Bank, where she leads the company’s whistleblower hotline function and other corporate risk-related matters. After practicing as an insurance defense litigator early in her career, she has spent the past 20 years in primarily legal and compliance roles in the financial services industry, including roles in employment and labor law, heading insider trading monitoring at a broker-dealer, and as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a boutique investment banking firm. Sheryl holds a JD from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.
