Empowering Women with Heart Disease

Becoming a WomenHeart Champion: Empowering Women with Heart Disease

WomenHeart is on the lookout for courageous and determined women who are living with heart disease to join us as WomenHeart Champions at the 2024 WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium. This unique program is the nation’s sole volunteer initiative that trains women with heart disease to become educators, advocates, and sources of support for fellow women facing heart-related challenges.

About the Science & Leadership Symposium

Since its inception in 2002, the renowned WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium has brought together over 1,100 women living with heart disease. This intensive training equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in their communities, providing invaluable support and education to others facing similar health struggles. Traditionally held as a prestigious 3-day event at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, this year, we’re thrilled to extend the opportunity to a wider audience through a virtual 3-week training.

Join Us in Making a Difference

This year’s virtual symposium will take place from Monday, May 6, to Thursday, May 23, 2024. The curriculum will be accessible via our WomenHeart learning portal, with live virtual sessions conducted over Zoom. Champions who complete the virtual training may also receive an invitation to the in-person symposium in October 2024.

Eligibility and Application Details

Those interested in becoming WomenHeart Champions must identify as women and have been diagnosed with heart disease. They must also be at least 6 months post their most recent cardiovascular event and be emotionally and physically prepared to serve as advocates for women’s heart health.
